Introduction
This contract was completed in 2010 and consisted of the demolition of an existing mechanics garage including the safe removal of underground fuel tanks and the construction of a 3 story attractive mixed use building to provide a mixture of 7 No. 1 and 2 bedroom High Specification self-contained units, 2 x 4 bedroom houses and 2 commercial units including car parking, cycle storage and private/ communal amenity space all built traditionally to match the local architecture.
Our involvement
Our involvement on this contract ran from the pre-construction phase where we acted as the client’s advisers working closely with the architects and engineers to aid in putting together all the pre-construction information through to completion including furnishing and landscaping.
Construction Details
The substructure construction consisted of trench fill foundations new drainage system and services. The ground floor was a block and beam construction. The superstructure was constructed from the load bearing masonry walls with RC stairs and timber floors. The building is within a conservation area and has traditional facades in keeping with the local architecture.
