Stockwell Park Road
Introduction
This was the 2nd phase of a previous refurbishment contract to the main listed building where we converted the Victorian property that was used as offices into 5 self-contained units to London heritage and local authority approval. The 2nd phase contract consisted of the demolition of an existing 3 story, reinforced concrete framed extension to the main building and the construction of a 4 story mixed use building to provide 4 High Specification self-contained units for the rental market comprising of 3 x 2 bedroom and 1 x 1 bedroom units to include, cycle storage, private/ communal amenity space.
Our involvement
Our involvement on this project ran from the pre-construction phase where we acted as the client's advisers working closely with the architects and engineers as the CDM coordinators to aid in putting together all the pre-construction information through to completion including furnishing.
Construction
The substructure construction consisted of a Reinforced concrete (RC) ground bearing slab with thickening trench fill foundations. The superstructure was constructed from the load bearing masonry walls with RC stairs and floors throughout at first level there is a counter levered RC beam to support the 1st and 2nd-floor masonry, with an interesting curved steel frame, timber infilled and zinc cladded to create the 4th-floor penthouse unit.
